And Finally......

I KNOW I am the last person to post photos and talk about market (I guess I am an overachiever at something. he he he)

Valerie, Lindsey, and I arrived in Houston on Friday morning and started setting up. We went to work opening all the suitcases and deciding what to put where. It didn't really take all that long and when we were done... TA DA (this is what you can fit in 4 suitcases). I totally LOVE the polka dot valence - it is new this market!

While they were setting up I sneaked over to the LECIEN booth and snapped this photo of a quilt I designed for them using a new fabric line called Le Petit Jardin. I was so excited when they asked me to do this! (Nireko made the quilt on the left and I made the one on the right)

We decided (at the last minute) to do sample spree, I was SO nervous! It was nuts and we sold about 65 Chatter Blocks!!!

And, what is a Chatter Block you ask? Well, it's a quilted cell phone cozy that is made out of 2-1/2" strips - you can make Chatter Blocks out of your leftover jelly roll "crumbs".
We came up with this idea LATE Sunday night and went to work early on Monday morning (can you say sleep deprived). I called Valerie and cried "help" she came over and pitched in on Monday and helped me a TON. Lindsey came over on Tuesday and helped me a more too. We were able to make 102 of these little suckers between Monday and Wednesday night. All I can say is WOW!!!! Had it not been for Valerie and Lindsey, I would still be sitting at my sewing machine!! Thanks guys, you saved my bacon (again...)

We did get a chance to shop Sample Spree too and here are Valerie's spoils... who needs clothes in a suitcase anyway?

The first day that Market opened, I felt like we were in the Haunted Mansion at Disney World, our lamps kept flickering on and off and our booth would sway ominously - it was very scary. (things did calm down for the second and third days though).
I will also share my awesome discovery with you.. SWEET POTATO FRIES! Man, were they great - I so totally loved them that I ate them for lunch 2 DAYS IN A ROW!! They were at The Lakehouse which is one of the little restaurants right across from the convention center. They are a "must" snack food in my book and I can't wait until next fall market so I can get me some more!

I also wanted to share some random photos from market with you so here goes. I don't know why, but I didn't take as many pictures as I usually do, I feel sad - there are some of my friends that I totally missed this time.

My friends Ann of Pixie Girl Quilts and Karen hiding in the back behind the table. Local Utah girls at market for the first time. Cute Quilts and cute booth too!

The Nellie's Needle girls, my friends Karen and her daughter Monica both sporting the adorable aprons they design along with the beautiful quilts. More Utah girls at market for the first time!

Dear Brenda from Acorn Quilt and Gift Company was my neighbor! I always love walking in her booth, it seems so soft and comfortable and she is just a delight to be around.

Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill, she is always SO nice to me! And her quilts are always very beautiful!

Abbey Lane Quilts - Marcea and Janice in their beautiful booth - it won second place!!

A photo of my friend Jill of Jillily Studio and her peeps. She scored a very sweet booth location!

Bate & Taylor - New designers for Maywood. I loved their fabric and Janet & Jody are SO nice too!!

Here is a shot of the three of us!

All good things must end and here is what the booth looks like packed up and ready to go.

I hope you all have enjoyed my photos!
Happy Quilting,
Mary
